Strategies for September

Presented by: Mary Flewelling-Pinchen
Hosted by: Toronto Montessori Institute
8569 Bayview Ave. Richmond Hill
Cost: $60 for members / $75 for non-members
Does the thought of the first week of school make your heart beat faster?
Do you tremble when you think of facing your students for the first time? Do you find yourself lying awake at night rehearsing and re-rehearsing what you will say and do? Good!
Believe it or not, you are already on the right track! Recognizing the significance of September is the first step towards developing a successful, normalized casa classroom.
“Strategies for September” is a workshop designed for new and “nearly-new” casa teachers who are eager to get off to the right start in September. Participants will learn how to plant the “seeds of success” by undertaking a thorough examination of what needs to happen in the casa classroom during the first few critical weeks of September.
This seminar will explore:
- how to prepare the casa environment for the new school year,
- how to plan for orientation,
- how to foster parent readiness and support, and
- how to establish the necessary framework for a child-centered classroom.
Specific step-by-step instruction involving important introductory exercises and activities will be demonstrated and discussed in detail. Participants will receive a sample orientation plan and parent education outline in addition to song, story and finger-play suggestions.
If you are experiencing September “stage-fright”, (or think that you might), then this workshop is for you!
